WRC - Rally of Poland 2017

From June 29th to July 2nd, the seventy-fourth Rally of Poland will takes place, round number eight of thirteen of the 2017 World Rally Championship (WRC), where many teams involved are equipped by BMC.  In the 2017 race, we will see some news, e.g. almost a third of the route has not featured in the last three editions.

Route

    1. Super-quick sandy roads dart among the picturesque countryside of the Masurian Lake District holiday region in northern Poland, for the 8th round of WRC (World Rally Championship), where many teams involved are equipped by BMC.
    2. Based in Mikolajki, several hours north of Warsaw, which hosts the start, finish and a super special stage next to the service park that is run three times.
    3. After Thursday evening’s curtain-raiser in Mikolajki, Friday is unchanged from last year. It features two loops of four tests to the north-east, before a repeat of the super special stage duels - a total of 116.16km.
    4. Saturday heads north towards the border with the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad for four stages that are driven twice, before a last pass over the Mikolajki super special.
    5. Four final tests will be held on Sunday, including the new Paprotki Power Stage.

Challenge

    1. Very fast roads will see speeds approach those of Rally Finland.
    2. Tall grass lines many sections, limiting visibility on the approach to corners.
    3. Grass also hides rocks so cutting corners is a risky pastime.

Car spec

    1. Gravel suspension.
    2. Soft compound tyres are the primary option, but hard rubber will also be available.
    3. The 23 rally stages cover 320.56 km in a total route of 1408.75 km.
